Kazuhide Takahama (1930-2010) Japanese, Ten 'Rennie' Dining Chairs for Simon Gavina. Dark chocolate leather chair with dark brown lacquered wood. Designed in 1969 in honor of the T-Chair model designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh. 

Condition: Commensurate with age, wear to chairs, scuffs and scratches. 

Size: 23 x 16 1/4 x 43 1/2 in. 

Kazuhide Takahama (1930–2010) was a Japanese architect and designer known for his minimalist, Zen-inspired aesthetic. After studying architecture in Tokyo and working in Kazuo Fujioka’s studio, he moved to Italy in 1957 to oversee Japan’s pavilion at the XI Triennale di Milano, where he met designer Dino Gavina. Their collaboration spanned decades, including work with Gavina SPA, Simon International, and designers like Carlo Scarpa. Takahama created furniture and lighting noted for their simplicity and formal clarity, earning a reputation as “the man of stone” for his quiet yet impactful presence. He continued designing until his death, leaving behind a legacy of elegant and timeless design.
