Miniature painting of a rooster and hens. Like his brother, Otto Scheuerer, Julius was a successful animal painter. He lived and worked in Munich, and studied at the Academy there for a short time. He preferred to be self-taught. Scheuerer's work focused on the depiction of domestic birds and hens. His oeuvre shows mainly colorful flocks of birds in different constellations arranged in a decorative courtyard, on the edge of a field or by a small pool. The style of the artist is characterized by colorful work, technical quality, romantic subjects and mainly by small sizes. Overall size: 10 1/2 x 12 in. Sight size: 3 x 4 1/4 in.
