Since arriving in 1955, Roda has made an indelible mark on the country's art and academia, serving as a professor at both the National University and the Andes University, and establishing a prolific exhibition career that earned him Colombian citizenship and international recognition for his work, which constantly shifts between the abstract and the figurative. The celebrations included an exhibition of his recent abstract series Pinturas negras at the National University's Art Museum, a major retrospective at the Museum of Modern Art of Bogotá where he was awarded the La orden Ministerio de Cultura medal, and a double homage at the Andes University where he received the Medalla de Oro al Mérito Civil for his transformative teaching. The events concluded with a show of his El color de la luz series and the launch of a comprehensive book about his work, confirming Roda's status as a master painter and teacher whose influence profoundly shaped Colombian art.
