Jozef Batko's art reflects his current state of mind, and is based on observation. He says anything can trigger an idea for a painting. It could be on the news, something on the radio, he tries to remember that moment and translate it on canvas. "That is why I have paintings with bright colors and also paintings that are all black".

Artist Biography:
Jozef Batko is a Slovakian-born artist residing in Sarasota, Florida. His work spans diverse styles inspired by 20th-century icons like Willem de Kooning, Franz Kline, Jasper Johns, and Jean-Michel Basquiat. Having grown up under restrictive artistic norms in Communist-era Czechoslovakia, Batko developed a deep appreciation for freedom of expression. This led him to explore abstract art, where he experiments with techniques such as drip painting and direct application of paint from tubes, often blending clean lines with bursts of color or monochrome.
