Joseph Cuffaro, American Oil on Canvas. Flowers in a garden pot, signed lower right. Joseph Cuffaro’s reputation as a professional painter has spanned over a period of 60 years. He has exhibited extensively throughout the New York metropolitan area. His work has been received favorably by renowned critics such as William Agee, Associate Curator for the Whitney Museum of American Art. Joseph Cuffaro’s formal education includes a Bachelor of Arts degree from New Paltz University, a Master of Arts degree from Adelphi University and a Professional Diploma from Hunter’s College, New York. He has studied in the U.S. and Europe under distinguished artists Robert Motherwell, Jackson Pollack, European landscape painter Rudolph Schafer and sculptor Tony Smith. Internationally known critic Jean Paris described Cuffaro’s work as “exciting, provocative…and without question he has been an artist that continues to strengthen with the use of innovative techniques and an unparalleled sense of color.” Joseph Cuffaro’s paintings are in the collections of such celebrities as pianist Jose Iturbi, Salvatore Marzullo, Director of Performing and Fine Arts Byron Belt, of the John F Kennedy Civic and Cultural Center and Associate Curator William Agee of the Whitney Museum.
