Jon Silverman is an American glass artist who was born in North Carolina in 1955. He first began crafting in 1973, opening his own home studio before he was even finished with high school, and has been known for his abstract hand-blown biomorphic vases, bowls, paperweights and more ever since. Many of his early works were acquired by galleries, museums, and corporate collections in the 1980s and 90s, and are highly sought by collectors on secondary markets. Although he went on to obtain a degree from Florida International University in 1987, working there as an instructor and at the University of Miami through the mid 90s, he has become intensely private in the digital age, rarely giving interviews and offering no public retail storefront or commercial address for his works, preferring to work on commission alone.
