John Kinnear was born in Bedford, England on the fifteenth day of August, 1922, the son of an industrialist.He was educated at Bedford Private Schools, and studied in England. His progress was interrupted by the Second World War, throughout which he served with H. M. Coldstream Guards.His personal experiences in combat, as a prisoner of war, a campaigner in Africa and Europe, and later a widely travelled Canadian are the basis of his art. Public and private collections of his paintings are numerous. Acceptance for the 87th Royal Canadian Academy Show in 1966, the Western Ontario Art In 1969 Exhibition in 1965, and many other tributes confirm his progress. he was elected by jury to the Society of Canadian Artists.
