This is an oil on board by John Coppin. It is titled: "The Victor" in the lower left, and signed and dated 1972 in the lower right. Coppin was born in Ontario, Canada however he primarily grew up in Ohio. He is known for being a portrait painting, muralist and illustrator. Prizes include the Scarab Club Gold Medal in Detroit for three years, the Institute of Arts Popular Prize for four years, the Carl F. Clarke Award in 1953, and the Hartwig Prize in 1953. His work has been exhibited in several museums and locations including the Van Wexel in Sarasota Florida.
