Johannes Von Stumm (Born 1959) German, Sculpture, "Disk III". Granite, limestone, glass, steel, and bronze. No. (Number) 4 in an edition of 12. Signed on one of the glass sides. Retains the exhibit label with the title. 

Size: 18 x 5 1/2 x 18 in. 

Johannes von Stumm is celebrated for his innovative sculptures combining iron, granite, and glass—materials that symbolize the harmony between strength and fragility. Rooted in his Alpine upbringing and a family tradition of steelmaking, his work explores light, transparency, and spirituality through abstract and figurative forms. Influenced by Rodin and later inspired by philosophies from Buddhism to Christianity, von Stumm’s creations embody universal gestures and a profound balance between the physical and the transcendental, reflecting his lifelong pursuit of unity between contrasting forces.
