Author Biography:
Johann Elias Ridinger (1698-1767) was a prominent German painter, engraver, and publisher, celebrated for his masterful depictions of animals, hunting scenes, and equestrian subjects. Born in Ulm, Ridinger studied under several artists, including Christoph Resch and Johann Falch, before establishing himself in Augsburg, where he founded his own publishing house. His detailed and dynamic illustrations, often accompanied by informative texts, were highly regarded for their accuracy and artistic quality. Ridinger's works were widely disseminated and collected throughout Europe, contributing significantly to the art and culture of the 18th century.
