Joan Miró (1893-1983) Spanish, "A Universe Calendar for 1986" Abstract Modernist Calendar. Vintage calendar featuring the works of Joan Miro.
Size: 18 x 19 in.
Joan Miró (1893–1983) was a Spanish painter, sculptor, and ceramicist whose imaginative, dreamlike imagery made him one of the most influential figures of 20th-century modern art. Born in Barcelona, Spain, Miró became associated with the Surrealist movement in Paris during the 1920s, developing a highly personal style characterized by biomorphic shapes, bold colors, playful symbols, and a sense of spontaneous freedom. His work often blended abstraction with elements of fantasy and Catalan identity, as seen in paintings such as The Harlequin’s Carnival. Over the course of his prolific career, Miró experimented across multiple mediums—including printmaking, tapestry, and large-scale public sculptures—continually pushing the boundaries of visual language while maintaining a poetic, childlike sense of wonder.
