Jimmy Uy Tablante is a Filipino-born Hawaiʻi-based artist and designer whose work encompasses watercolor, mixed media and architectural rendering, reflecting a deep engagement with Hawaiian landscapes and local cultural scenes. He was born in the Philippines, studied architecture at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, and moved to Hawaiʻi in 1985, where his architectural training informed both his design work and artistic compositions. Drawing on his skills in rendering and quick execution—earning him the nickname “Speedy Jimi T.”—he transitioned into the fine art world, taking classes at the Honolulu Museum of Art School and becoming a signature member of the Hawaiʻi Watercolor Society in 2011. Tablante’s paintings have been featured in regional exhibitions and competitions, including international watercolor biennales and local juried shows, and he has received multiple awards recognizing his skill in realistic and evocative watercolor landscapes and scenes.
