Jim Rice is a celebrated ceramic artist based in Naples, Florida, renowned for his vibrant, whimsical pottery that often features playful fish motifs. Originally from Kent, Ohio, Rice relocated to Naples in 1973 and established The Clay Place, the city's first professional pottery studio. Over the decades, his distinctive creations—including fish platters, wall murals, and functional pieces like microwave bacon crispers—have become iconic in the region. Rice's work is characterized by its fusion of functionality and artistry, with each piece handmade, signed, and dated, reflecting his philosophy that "plattery will get you everywhere."
