Jean-Pierre Serrie; born in Montparnasse, France; attended the Academie Des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Had first exhibition in 1955, before being sent to Algeria to complete his military service. In 1961, Serrier first exhibited in the USA at a New York gallery. In 1975 and 1979, conducted successful exhibitions in New Orleans whose work was highlighted in art and news magazines that included Time & Newsweek. A member of the Autumn Salon, he was elected a jury member in 1976. Exhibited widely during his lifetime, including in London, Paris, Geneva, and Brussels, and posthumous retrospectives of his work took place in New York and New Orleans. The "Girl with the Green Sweater" is an attractive painting in good vintage condition, with some slight signs of abrasion on the exterior of the frame and slight wear on the canvas due to age.
