Jan Benda (Born 1947) Czech/Canadian, (2) Freeform Art Glass Plate Sculptures. Similar vaguely oval flat-topped shape, with a small foot on the bottom, one in blue and orange, the other in green and purple. Both signed on the undersides. 

Size: 2 x 5 1/4 x 5 1/2 in. 

Jan Benda was born in 1947 in Czechoslovakia, and studied glassblowing for three years at the Technical Glass Blowing Institute, graduating in 1969. He spent over a decade honing his skills in a studio in Zelezny Brod, working alongside many of the great glassmakers of his day. In the early 1980s his wife Krystyna convinced him to immigrate to Canada, where they set up Krystyna Glass Limited in the town of Sechelt, British Columbia. They continue to produce new works together to this day, represented by many galleries in Canada with countless works in museums and private collections across North America.
