Ivan Clarke was born in the mid 20th Century to a long line of signwriters and painters in Auckland, New Zealand. Originally focused on commercial work, he emerged onto the creative scene after creating the "Lonely Dog" series of art, which has expanded to over 200 images and evolved into a series of novels and a movie still in development, with a script by Akiva Goldsman. His daughter, Raquel, was born in 1989 and followed in his footsteps as an artist, and they work together at his studio in Queenstown.
