Original oil on canvas by Irving Wiles. Inscribed "Wiles" verso. Attached are photos of COA from Director of Huntington Museum of Art. Wiles is known for his figural, portrait, and marine paintings. This painting is titled: "Woman with Horse". It is a beautiful impressionist painting with soft colors and genuine gilt frame. Wiles was born in NY, and originally he thought to be a violinist, however he chose art instead because his father taught him when he was only 17. His works have been exhibited at the National Academy of Design and he won numerous prestigious prizes in New York and at the Paris Salon. He was also one of eight painters commissioned by the National Art Committee to paint the history of World War I. President Roosevelt and William Jennings Bryant sat for Wiles.
