By Inuit artist Annie Niviaxie, this Great Whale River fur, skin, sinew hanging dating 1980. Traditional stitchery skills of Eskimo women are realized in this painstakingly honed tapestry depicting scenes of bustling activity characteristic of life in the Arctic. Each of these is a rare compilation of natural materials from the Arctic region. Translation: "The old lady was fishing when a huge polar bear came along and attacked her....Nanualuk -- Young polar bear....the lady caught a fish with her scoop..a spear and an ice chisel.....the other man hasn't caught a fish yet."
