Individual French Sevres Style Signed Porcelain and Gilt Bronze Decorated Covered Urn. Late 19th Early 20th Century. Overall striking pink color porcelain. Floral scene on one side, and a figural scene with cupids on the other side with a signature near the bottom of the scene. Figural woman masks on the sides terminating in a Louis style base. Topped with a pineapple finial. Signed on the underside of the cover.
Size: 18 x 7 x 5 in.
Sèvres porcelain, produced near Paris since the 18th century, is renowned for its luxurious craftsmanship, vibrant glazes like “bleu céleste” and “rose Pompadour,” and intricate hand-painted designs with lavish gilding. Originally backed by King Louis XV and Madame de Pompadour, the manufactory perfected both soft- and hard-paste porcelain, becoming a favorite among European royalty. Today, it continues as a state-run institution, blending historic techniques with modern artistic collaborations.
