Important Rare Wang Yeting Porcelain Plaque. Famille Rose, under glazed, porcelain painting. The inscription at the top left corner reads: "Sailing Along on a Distant River", reading from right to left; followed by the artist's signature, "Painted by Wang Ping Yeting of Mt. Zhushan"; under the signature is the artist's name seal "Elder Ping" in carving script, reading from right to left. With an open foreground, the landscape progresses towards the mountainous background; a forest of trees on the left side of the river bank in the foreground corresponds to the trees and village at the foot of distant mountains; ink delineation enlivened by light colors; a red seal mark at the top left register closes the pictorial space. An appraisal was done in 2009 by Wei Yang Art, LLC. Wang Yeting (1884-1942), known as Ping, Jian, Pingshan, Laoping, layman Chuanfang, and master of Pingshan Thatched Hall, was one of the "Eight Friends of Mount Zhushan," eight porcelain master painters of the Republican Period (1911-1949). Inspired by Chinese classical paintings, Wang was well known for his distinctive use of blue and green in his landscape paintings. Wang's landscape paintings are characterized by a striking visual consistence in iconography, a newly-formed artistic movement founded by the artist in the early 20th century. His pioneering use of multiple-perspectives and a peculiar snow-white color for his paintings distinguishes him from others. The overall effect is a sophisticated, aesthetic conceptualization of the subject matter. A previous smaller wang yeting plaque sold at this auction house in April 2018 for a total of $239,400. Overall Size: 25 1/8 x 16 3/8 in. Sight Size: 17 1/4 x 9 3/4 in. #2653
