Hilda Gleizer Rindom was born in Cuba in 1930 to Jewish immigrants who had fled Eastern Europe. She spent several years in Cuba before the family relocated to Pompano Beach, Florida. Her mother was a fabric-dyer, who instilled an early interest in color in Hilda, and she found lots of inspiration in the Florida landscape. Although she traveled the country taking individual classes at numerous art schools, she was primarily self-taught, picking up oils, watercolors, and etching along the way. She developed an Impressionistic style, but portrayed a diverse array of subjects, from landscapes to abstract portraits to whimsical nudes. Her work was selected many times to be exhibited in fine art galleries and museums on both the East and West coasts, with solo exhibitions in France, Holland, Germany, and Sweden in the 1970s. After the death of her husband in the 1980s she moved to Coconut Creek, Florida, where she taught classes and contributed regularly to local galleries. She passed away in 2004.
