Originally from Nesle-et-Massoult, near Châtillon-sur-Seine, he began his career in Burgundy at the newspaper Le Châtillonnais et l'Auxois in 1981 before working for France 3 Bourgogne. He continued to draw for Le Châtillonnais et l'Auxois until his death. Nicknamed "the coloured man", he was notably a contributor to the websites Rue89 from 2007, LeMonde.fr and Le Huffington Post, as well as to the television channel Public Sénat in the program On va plus loin. Tomb of Hervé Baudry in the Montmartre cemetery. He died of a heart attack in Montmartre, on June 4, 2016, at the age of 54. He is buried in Montmartre Cemetery.
