Herbie Rose (1930–2017) was a Jamaican-born artist renowned for his vibrant depictions of everyday Jamaican life. He began painting in Jamaica, opening a gallery in 1968 to showcase his oil and acrylic works. His art, often considered "intuitive" due to its bright colors and entertaining naivety, became ubiquitous in both local and international settings, adorning doctor's offices, hotels, and private collections. In the 1980s, Rose relocated to Bradenton, Florida, where he co-founded the Village of the Arts, contributing significantly to the local art scene. His work continues to evoke nostalgia for a bygone era, capturing the hustle and bustle of Jamaican town centers, marketplaces, and rural life.
