Hans Kuhn (12 October 1905 – 12 December 1991) was a German painter, graphic artist and influential art teacher whose career spanned much of the 20th century; he studied under Ludwig Meidner in Berlin and later with Roger Bissière in Paris, and spent several years in Italy where he engaged with artists like Werner Gilles. His early work exhibited strong representational composition, but after World War II—during which he served and later endured an exhibition ban in Nazi‑era Berlin—he became increasingly experimental and abstract, eventually embracing non‑representational forms. After the war he was appointed by Karl Hofer to teach at the Berlin Academy of Fine Arts, a position he held until 1974, and was active in German artistic circles including the Deutscher Künstlerbund, receiving the Baden‑Württemberg State Prize in 1969; he spent his later years alternating between Baden‑Baden and Berlin.
