Grace Carpenter Hudson (1865-1937) oil on canvas landscape scene. Signed in the lower right G. Hudson. Hudson is known for Indian portraits, genre painting, weavings, rugs and sketches. At the young age of 16 she won the Alvord Gold Medal, presented by the President of the San Francisco Art Association for the best full-length study in crayon. Later in life, she had many stunning and extensive paintings of Indian artifacts but tragically they were destroyed in an earthquake and fire. She was noticed for her talent at an early age and has maintained the same reputation as her life went on.
