Over a 50 year career she produced more than 600 works, earning national acclaim for major public installations. Her most famous public commissions include the Vietnam Women’s Memorial on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. and the massive Irish Memorial in Philadelphia, and she gained widespread distinction in 1999 when she designed the obverse face of the U.S. Sacagawea dollar coin.
