Giuseppe Pino (1939 - 2010) American, Lithograph. Signed lower left. Numbered 104/395. Titled "Flight of Femininity" Pino D'angelico began his art studies at the Art Institute in Bari, Italy. In 1960 he entered Milan's Academy of Brea, wherehe perfected his talent and skill for painting nudes. Deeply inspired by the Pre-Raphaelite painters, he also experimented with the Expressionism of the late 1960's. Over the next several years, his work received critical acclaimin major exhibitions in Italy and throughout Europe. In 1979 he immigrated to the United States and became one of the most sought after book cover illustrators in the world. Although he devoted thirteen years to his illustrationcareer, he never abandoned his desire to return to fine art. Referring to himself as a psychological expressionist, Pino's brushwork combines elements of academic, impressionistic, and abstract painting techniques, revealingaspects of the artist and the human condition.
