Born in Genoa, he established himself in Rome where he became closely associated with the Jesuits. Gaulli's most famous work is The Triumph of the Name of Jesus in the Church of the Gesù, which masterfully combines illusionistic painting, vibrant color, and foreshortened figures. His art is characterized by its emotional intensity and skillful integration of painting with architectural space, making him a key figure in the Baroque era.
