Gerard Fagard (1938-2021) French, Oil on Canvas, "The Port of Port Cros". South of France. Gérard Fagard (1938–2021) was a French painter renowned for his vibrant use of color and his Fauvist heritage. Born in Rouen, he studied at the Beaux-Arts schools in Rouen and then Paris. In 1959, he settled permanently in Sanary-sur-Mer, in the Var region, where he continued his artistic training at the Beaux-Arts school in Toulon. After military service in Algeria, he resumed his studies in Rouen and obtained the Certificate of Higher Artistic Training (CAFAS) in 1965. He then became an art teacher, teaching in Rouen, Pont-Audemer, Brignoles, and La Valette-du-Var. In 1998, he retired to devote himself entirely to painting.
