Georges Dayez (1907-1991) was a French painter, engraver, and master lithographer associated with the post-war Nouvelle École de Paris. Initially learning printmaking techniques in his father’s workshop, he pursued formal art training at the École des Beaux-Arts under Lucien Simon and absorbed influential Cubist and avant-garde ideas alongside artist Édouard Pignon. Following service in World War II, his semi-abstract, structure-driven landscapes and figurative compositions gained prominence in major venues like the Salon d’Automne and the Salon de Mai alongside contemporaries such as Pablo Picasso and Fernand Léger. Beyond his active international exhibition career, he contributed significantly to French art education, serving for years as a professor and head of the lithography workshop at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
