Georg-Wolfgang Knorr, German, 1705-1761, Etch
Knorr, a promient German painter, engraver and art dealer, published this highly attactive work on shells in Nuremberg between 1760-73. These fine examples of shells are extremely well drawn and have beautiful early hand-colouring. With over 1000 shells illustrated on 190 copper-engraved plates, Knorr's works stands as one of the greatest of all books on shells.
