Gale Fulton-Ross (born 1947) "Bourbon Street" 1987 mixed media watercolor of 4 black musicians jamming at New Orleans' historic Preservation Hall. Gale Fulton Ross is an African-American visual artist known for portraiture painting, printmaking, and sculpture. Born in Medford, Massachusetts, the oldest of nine children, Fulton Ross studied art in Boston and San Francisco. Initially trained as an art curator, Fulton Ross has traveled extensively throughout the world to study and to paint. Her visual expressions most often depict poignant images of people, especially African American women, reflecting her philosophy that it is the depth and variety of human feelings that motivates art.
