This is an oil on board by Gabriel Alix, a first generation Haitian primitive artist who painted still-lifes, animals and religious subjects, including Vodou. The painting depicts cranes and fish and a long-legged bird with a pointed beak. The painting is very similar to a painting he did titled "By the Seashore". The painting is signed in the lower right. The overall size is 22 x 26 1/8 in. wide and the sight size is 15 1/4 x 19 1/2 in. wide. Provenance: the Hirsch estate.
