Sèvres is best known as a French royal porcelain manufactory founded in the 18th century, but it also produced glass of exceptional quality, particularly in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Often referred to as “Sèvres glass,” these pieces were typically decorative vases, bowls, and objets d’art that combined refined shapes with rich colors, gilded accents, and sometimes enamel painting, reflecting the same elegance and innovation seen in their porcelain. Sèvres glassworks often catered to aristocratic and royal patrons, emphasizing luxury and artistry over utility, and their creations are prized today as rare examples of the manufactory’s versatility beyond porcelain.
