French Sarreguemines Majolica Covered Dish with Strawberries. Majolica porcelain covered dish with crackle and leaves on sides, strawberries in relieve on lid and strawberry-form finial. Marked on base.

Sarreguemines Majolica refers to the richly glazed, vibrantly colored ceramics produced in the French town of Sarreguemines, particularly during the 19th and early 20th centuries. Known for their intricate relief designs and lustrous, high-gloss finishes, these majolica pieces often depicted natural motifs such as fruits, flowers, animals, and pastoral scenes, reflecting both Art Nouveau and Rococo influences. The Sarreguemines faience factories became renowned for their technical mastery and artistic quality, producing everything from decorative plates and vases to elaborate stove tiles and architectural ceramics. Today, Sarreguemines Majolica is highly collectible, prized for its craftsmanship, historical significance, and exuberant charm.
