Freeman Sidney Sargent was born in San Francisco, CA on April 16, 1912.  Sargent earned his B.A. degree from University of California and his M.A. from Stanford University. He was a resident of Berkeley in the 1930s and active in the local art scene. 

He was a good friend and painting partner of Abel Warshawsky.  Following service in the Navy during WWII, he studied at the California School of Fine Art, and then taught art at Albany (CA) High School for 18 years.
