Frederic Remington (1861–1909) was an American artist and sculptor best known for his vivid depictions of the American West, particularly scenes of cowboys, Native Americans, and frontier life. His dynamic sculptures and illustrations captured the movement and energy of his subjects, showcasing his deep understanding of horses, cattle, and military life. Remington's works, such as The Bronco Buster and The End of the Trail, remain iconic representations of the American frontier. He initially studied at Yale but turned to art, becoming a prolific illustrator for magazines like Harper's Weekly. Although primarily recognized for his sculptures and paintings, Remington's work also reflected his interest in the challenges and myths of the West, contributing to the visual language of American identity in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. His legacy endures as one of the foremost artists of Western Americana.
