Steven Bradley is a 20th-century American interdisciplinary artist, composer, and educator based in Baltimore, known for his work at the intersection of visual art, sound, technology, and environmental inquiry. Trained in drawing, painting, and electronic media, he earned his B.F.A. from the University of South Florida and his M.F.A. from Florida State University. Since 1992, he has taught at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Bradley’s art incorporates found materials, urban debris, field recordings, and ambient sound to create multimedia installations and performances that examine ecological systems, memory, and the structure of place. His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including at the Walker Art Center and Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art, and he has received recognition from organizations such as the National Endowment for the Arts and Sonic Circuits. His projects often blur boundaries between science and art, prompting reflection on environmental impact and the overlooked elements of daily life.
