Artist Biography:
Frank Meisler (1929-2018) was a German-born sculptor and architect who survived the Holocaust through the Kindertransport, which brought him to England in 1939. After studying architecture at the University of Manchester and serving in the Royal Air Force, he moved to Israel in the late 1950s, where he established a workshop in Jaffa. Meisler is renowned for his poignant public sculptures, including a series of Kindertransport memorials in cities such as London and Berlin, and the interior of the Holocaust Memorial Synagogue in Moscow. His works often reflected his Jewish heritage and personal history, earning him numerous accolades, including the Franz Kafka Gold Medal and honorary titles from Russian and Ukrainian art academies.
