Towel horses, also known as towel racks or towel stands, are freestanding furniture pieces designed to hold and air out towels in bathrooms or bedrooms. Typically made of wood or metal, they feature horizontal bars supported by a stable frame, resembling the shape of a small hurdle or “horse.” Popular during the Victorian and Edwardian periods, towel horses were both practical and decorative, often crafted with turned legs, carved details, or elegant finishes to match period interiors. Today, antique and vintage towel horses are appreciated not only for their utility but also for their charm and craftsmanship, often repurposed in modern homes as stylish accents with a touch of historical flair.
