The company was founded in 1960 in Texas by Pat Fitzpatrick and Bob Floyd, who were both graduates of the Art Institute of Chicago. At first simply an importer, mainly from Japan, they became known for a broad variety of styles rather than as specialists. Their original works have been bought by Kings and Queens, as well as CEOs and celebrities, with their most accessible products gracing dinner tables throughout Europe and the United States. The company was acquired by Lifetime Brands in 2017, which continues to manufacture their most successful lines under the name Fitz and Floyd Classics that was originally copyrighted in 1999.
