Fay Hoffman Church (Mrs. Kingsley D. Church) was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on December 30, 1897.  Graduating from the local schools she then attended Syracuse University, College of Fine Arts from 1918 to 1922, obtaining a Bachelor of Painting Degree.  She was also award a scholarship for her sophomore year and received the Hiram Gee Traveling Fellowship award to study in Paris, France.

There she attended the Academie de la Grand Chaumiere and Academie Colarossi Art Schools. Her time in Europe was supplemented by travel to England, Germany and Italy.  Mrs. Church was also to study at the Chicago Academy of Fine Art.

Her specialty was portraiture but she also exhibited many fine landscapes.  She and her husband resided for many years in Lake Oswego, Oregon. 

Her exhibition schedule included Santa Barbara, California; Milwaukee, at the Layton Art Gallery; Boston, Massachusetts, at the Boston Art Museum, the Twentieth Century Club, and the Boston Art Club (regularly from 1930 to 1944); Portland Art Museum from 1944 through 1966, and the Oregon Artists Exhibitions in Portland. 

She moved with her husband to Colorado Springs in their retirement years where, after a short illness, she died in 1974.
