Fausto Perez was born in San Salvador, El Salvador in 1962, and began exploring art before he even started school, drawn to ceramics and painting. Self-taught, his Naive style was enthusiastically embraced by his teachers, who encouraged him to explore sculpture, handicrafts, and graphic design as well. He held his first individual exhibition at the National Library of San Salvador when he was just eighteen, and his style evolved over time to retain Naive aspects while growing more and more photo-realistic. His works, which draw upon his personal experiences and childhood in the surrounding villages and hills, are highly sought by collectors around the world, with yearly exhibitions in Central and South America, Europe, Asia, and the United States.
