Evelyn W. Mott (nee Wagner) was born on January 28th, 1907 in Nyack, New York. She showed an early interest in singing, dance, and the arts, and eventually decided to focus on painting after meeting and marrying her husband Norman in the late 1920s. They settled in Westfield, New Jersey, where they raised three children and she spent many years honing her skills studying the coastal and farm landscapes around her. After Norman’s retirement the couple moved to East Sandwich, Massachusetts, where she showed her artwork and taught at Scorton Creek Studio for nearly thirty years. After her husband’s death she was brought to Napa, California by her son, and passed away there on January 29th, 2005. Since then her works have been highly sought at auctions and can be found in many private and public collections throughout New England.
