This is an oil on panel by Eugene Antoine Samuel Lavielle, a French artist known for his landscapes. He was a student of Corot and received medals at Salons in the mid 1800's. He received the grand Chevalier de la Legion d'honneur in 1878. The painting is titled "Le
Perreux-Nogent de Marne"; Marne is a village near Paris. It is signed in the lower right, and it is signed and dated 1884 verso. The overall size 23 x 34 1/4 in. wide and the sight size is 11 1/2 x 22 1/2 in. wide.
