Eric Waugh was born in Montreal, Quebec in 1963. He taught himself to make art at an early age, absorbing as much inspiration as possible from the art, music, and culture of his home city. He worked in graphic illustration and product design before devoting himself to painting full time in 1988, combining aspects of Art Deco, Cubism, Expressionism, and Pop Art. Since then he has completed over 40,000 pieces in a style he calls “Pop Fusion,” often painting live at festivals and in tandem with musicians performing a concert. His magnum opus is a 41,400 square foot image titled “HERO” that took him five years to create, and he was honored by the Guinness Book of World Records with an award for “The World’s Largest Painting on Canvas By One Artist.” His works, primarily in acrylic with some mixed media, have been acquired by hundreds of major corporate and private collectors worldwide, and in recent decades he has devoted most of his time to children’s charities, along with raising three sons of his own.
