One shows ships in a harbor with a seashell-themed border decoration and the word "Dartmouth" below, and the other has a floral pattern border and an image of a building in center that is identified as "Boston Hospital" on the back. Various markings and labels on the backs.

Enoch Wood was born in 1759, born into a distinguished Staffordshire pottery family whose tradition he carried on. He began his career as a skilled modeller, initially partnering with his cousin before forming the successful Wood and Caldwell firm in 1790. During the 18th Century, the company was renowned for high-quality earthenware figures and stonewares that Wood often modelled himself. After 1818 the firm became Enoch Wood & Sons, shifting its focus toward large-scale production of blue and white transfer-printed tableware. A significant portion of this later work was specifically designed for and exported to the American market until the business closed in 1845, five years after his death, and many of his works are now highly sought by collectors on both continents.
