This is a large cameo glass lamp base signed Galle. The French glass artisan Émile Gallé (1846-1904) took over his parents faience and crystal manufacture in Nancy and specialized entirely on the production of beautiful pieces of glass. Works by Gallé are famous for their fusion of highly technical execution with great creativeness. Works by Gallé were rewarded with international prizes and exhibited at shows in Paris, Frankfurt and London. The family manufacture was run until 1930.
