These two paintings by Elizabeth Paxton Oliver consist of a still life and an orientalist painting. Both pieces are signed at the bottom. Elizabeth Paxton Oliver was born in Virginia and used to use her initials to conceal the fact that she was a woman. She felt there was too much bias against woman and wanted her paintings to sell. She was known for bird portraits - ornithological paintings - and orientalist paintings as well. The overall size of both pieces is 10 1/2 x 9 in. wide and the sight size is 4 x 3 in. wide.
