Titled, 'The Gleaner', oil on canvas, signed lower left. Edward John Cobbett was of French origin but spent most of his career working in England. There he specialized in the painting of horses and fox hunting scenes. A number of his works were engraved in the Sporting Magazine. Cobbett exhibited one work at The Royal Academy in 1854.
